Queens Day (Q-day) 2013

Hello Everyone :)

Tonight we celebrate Queens-night and tomorrow will be our last Queens-day. Our queen Beatrix is passing the throne to her son Willem Alexander. So next year we will be celebrating Kings Day...that sounds weird LOL. The night before Queens-day is always one big party night in a lot of cities here in Holland. With music on the streets and beer/ or soda for those who don't drink ;) everything is orange (that is our national color) and red, white and blue (the colors of our flag). There are also flea markets and many more festivities, but I always like the music (live bands and DJ's). So me and my friends are going to party tonight ;) So of course I've made Q-day nails again. Click here for my previous Q-day nails from the last years.

Base Impala (matte fluors) Tech, a really bright neon orange. Stamped music lines/ notes in the colors of our flag using SN red, SN white and SN blue Konad M22 and crowns from Konad M40 stamped with Kleancolor metallic black. Also added some orange rhinestones on the crowns.

The base color is really hard to capture so I took a lot of pictures with different lighting.

Saturday my sister and I went shopping (did not bought anything but okay) and we called it "sisters day" we always have sooo much fun on days like these. And we spotted the special Dutch Queens/King train. It was the train we had to take too, so that was really funny. When you took a picture of yourself and the train and uploaded it you could win some prizes. They call it the B to A train. Normally they have this motto that they (the train company) will bring you daily from place A to place B. But now they said we will also bring B to A that means the throne change from our queen Beatrix (the B) to our king to be (Willem) Alexander (the A).

So here some pics of the train and us :)

For all the Dutch people: Fijne Koninginnenacht/dag (Happy Queensnight/day)!

Happy Queens Day (Koninginnedag)

Happy Queens day for my Dutch readers ;)

Ofcourse I made some Queens day nails this year. Although I don't really like the combination of our red/white/blue flag colors and orange I always do it with Queens day our during the soccer European/ World cup when our country is playing ;) And on Queens day it can never be too crazy.

Base is Rio de Janeiro from W.I.C. by Herome, I found that a little bit to common and peachy so I added Impala matte fluors Tech, a really bright orange. So bright that I couldn't capture it correctly on the photo. I guess my Q-day nails also had something Brazilian, one polish with a Brazilian name and the other one is from Brazil. Stamped with Konad PSN gold black and imageplate BM08 some crowns. And also with SN red, white, blue some small flowers on my tips from M37.

My previous Q-day creations from over the years ;)
Some of them are soooo ugly ;)

Here a swatch of Rio de Janeiro from W.I.C. by Herome.

And some swatches when I topped it with 2 layers of Impala matte fluors Tech. Like I said I just couldn't capture the true brightness :(

Finally I funny photo of me with my bright nails and my little crown ;)

We were walking to Utrecht city to celebrate Queens day night and came across this mill, I just couldn't resist such a typical Dutch photo ;) Like I said before not entire Holland looks like this and we also don't all wear clogs ;) Here you can also see better how bright my nails are.

On the adventures in stamping group the challenge was Queens day too, I want to thank all the non Dutch people who participated it was so much fun to see the girls from all over the world make Queensday nails with our national colors.

Have a nice week everybody.

Queensday nails from 2010 & 2009

On April 30th we celebrate Queensday here in Holland. And ofcourse I always make some matching nails. I will make my nails for this year tomorrow, but today I'll show my Q-day nails from last year and the year before that ;) Our national color is orange and the color of our flag are red, white and blue. So these are the colors you see a lot on Q-day.

This creation I made in 2010:
Base China Glaze Peachy Keen with China Glaze Orange Knockout (this one is quite sheer so that's why I used Peachy Keen under it) it was sooooo bright, almost needed sunglasses to look at it. I stamped some crowns with Konad SN red, SN white and SN blue imageplate M40. Also in the same colors the dots from M79.

Here sort of a swatch from Peachy Keen with Orange Knockout:
It was soo bright so I had trouble to capture it's true color.

And now the ugliest nails you have ever seen!!!!! I made this in 2009 I find them horrible (people really liked them that day but looking back I can't imagine I had the courage to walk around with these nails ;) hahah)
I sponged the red, white and blue nails with Konad SN polish and rainbow glitter. Stamped the orange crown with M40. My ring and index finger have an orange base color (don't remember which one I believe it was a color of L`oreal) the tips I stamped with Konad SN pastel orange and rainbow glitter. The flowers I stamped with SN red, white and blue and imageplate M25.

I also wore this horrible matching ring that day, especially young children really liked that one :)

Tomorrow I will make my Q-day nails for this year!

Q-day 2011 Dutch Hello Kitty

Tomorrow it is Queensday here in Holland, so here are my new Q-day nails ;) This year I wanted something more subtle ;) But ofcourse all our national colors did had to be in it. Unfortunately my Ez flow topcoat smudged the orange french so everything has an orange glow on it :( also Hello Kitty and the white glitter base color from China Glaze.

Base China Glaze Glacier a bit of a white base with multi colored glitter in it. Orange tips made with Essence 09 Get the fever. Self made and designed Hello Kitty decals, she is wearing a Dutch dress and bow with the colors of our flag and the colors fade a bit at the edges. Stamped with China Glaze Peachy Keen and XL plate B on the tips.

Like I said unfortunately everything got this orange glow from my topcoat, but on Queensday it is allowed that everything is orange ;)

Here a close up from one nail:
Happy Q-day for my Dutch readers :) and don't forget to follow Nagelzone and enter her giveaway, she wants 5 more followers for this giveaway that ends tomorrow!

To everyone have a nice weekend.!

*Lest We Forget* ANZAC Remembrance Day nails

Hi Everyone,

The Saturday challenge from Nail Update is ANZAC or Penguin nails. I am blogging about this already because tonight and tomorrow we celebrate Kingsday here in Holland. Formerly known as Queensday or Q-day but since we now have a King it will be Kingsday. Anyway that means I won't have much time to go on a computer. So I am sharing my challange mani earlier.

I chose to do ANZAC nails and today it is ANZAC day so it isn't even that bad that I blog about these now ;) When I was googling to find out what ANZAC day meant I saw this pretty picture of a poem. And that became my inspiration. Will post that picture too.

I am really proud of how thes turned out, I even did freehand and I don't do freehand much haha. Cause I am not good at it. Even my boyfriend liked these nails.

Base Saran wrap with Catrice C01 Pebble Beach, Konad SN white and Konad SN black. Used Konad M36 and M36-I for the SN green leaves, flower buds etc. With Konad SN black I stamped the big cross from Konad S3, the words "Lest We Forget' are from the tittles of Nailways plates. The little cross is part of FUN5. The soldier is the man from the dancing love couple on Messy Mansion MM03 and freehanded him an arm, hand, hat/helmet, rifle/gun. And freehanded the poppies with Konad SN red, SN black and a little SN yellow.

My nails together with my inspiration
Here a link to the poem picture

And some pictures of just the saran wrap base.

I also really liked this base.

For all my Australian and New Zealand readers, have a good ANZAC day!

For all my Dutch readers Happy Kings night/day!

And for the rest...I wish you a wonderful weekend :)

Thanks for reading.

Kingsday (Koningsdag)

Hi Everyone,

This weekend we celebrated our first Kingsday formerly known as Queensday/Q-day here in Holland. So that meant ofcourse Dutch nails.

Orange is our national color so a really bright neon orange base (hard to capture), red/white/blue tulips in the colors of our flag. The crowns because it is Kingsday and a mill for that little extra Dutch touch hahah.

I love orange but not in combination with red/white/blue. But still I do it every year to support my country.

Base Impala Tech over China Glaze FYI, stamped with Konad SN black, SN red, SN white and SN blue and Winstonia W215 and W218.

Some more pics with different lighting.

They were really bright orange, I loved how bright there were.

I guess I'll be doing more orange nails with red/white/blue this Summer during the World Cup soccer.

Thanks for reading.
